Fisher & Paykel's historical base is as a manufacturer and marketer of Whiteware (major appliances). More recently, the manufacturing and marketing of Healthcare devices has played an increasing role, together with a supporting Finance company. We commenced business in 1934 as an importer of refrigerators and washing machines. In 1938 we started manufacturing whiteware under licence to several major international appliance companies. Driven by a desire to export, we moved to manufacturing products utilising in-house technology in the mid-1960s. Today, Whiteware markets a series of technology platforms in Smart Drive auto washers, Active Smart refrigerators and DishDrawer dishwashers, supported by Fisher & Paykel designed dryers, freezers and cooking products.
